A Bright, Functional Display for a Great Price
By Edward Vitralis on Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2013
Quick Disclaimer: I immediately unscrewed the stand bases as I'm using these displays mounted to swing-arms. Also, I'm only using the DVI connection and I'm not using the speakers.Pros:- The price can't be beat- The brightness is enough for use in a commercial environment- The shadowing that sometimes occurs around the edge of discount displays is minimal- They are decently thin and the bezel is not obnoxiously wide- Can choose sRGB for color settings- Easy to open, intuitive packaging*- Lightweight- 100mm VESA mounting holes are in the correct spots**- All of the stickers, tape, logos, and branding, excepting the ViewSonic logo, peels off easily without residue.- Very nice color consistency between two out-of-the box displays***Cons:- As others mentioned, the menu control buttons do not light up. Given the brightness of the monitor, it makes it a bit hard to see them if you're not in a brightly lit room, especially if your display is on with white content- When using the sRGB color setting, it's not possible to adjust the brightness. (If this makes me sound like an uninformed idiot, please leave a comment telling me why, I'm curious if there's a reason) Granted, when I do color sensitive work, I'm in a light-controlled dimly lit room anyway, but the option would be nice.- No USB ports like on most Dell displays.- While it's minimal as described above, the shadowing along the edges of the screen is present- Only comes with VGA cable, not DVI (this is arguably my biggest gripe)Even though there are a few cons, I still give this monitor five stars because it's only $140 shipped. At this price, paired with one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ABNLEWO/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I can set up a wall of displays for under $200/display.Footnotes:* I've encountered some bad packaging that rips upon opening or won't go back together easily.** I've purchased some discount displays where the VESA mounting holes don't quite line up properly with my mounts. (the mounts line up perfectly with other displays, so it's unlikely that it's the mount)*** For more expensive displays such as Dell and LaCie, you can usually request color matched pairs where they will open the displays before you purchase them and ensure that they are within a certain threshold of sameness for color accuracy. It's not uncommon to get two displays that are a few hundred degrees of color temperature off from each other. These are pretty close and I'm quite happy.

Not a bad monitor but....
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2013
Nice clear display, good price for 24". What made me decide to replace my old 19" LCD was my monitor at work being replaced by a 24" LG LED monitor. The LG was very thin and light weight with a brilliant display. The ViewSonic is about the same weight as my as my old 19" and not as thin as some I've seen. The only other negative is the time it takes to wake up from sleep mode about 30 seconds. For the price it's OK but I wish I had spent a little more money and time researching.
