On the down side, the microphone on this thing failed after a few weeks and would not work at all. The good news is that a much better microphone was available at Radio Shack for around ten bucks. Aside from that, I got this for a very good price on Amazon and it has been great to have. I bought it for my daughter (8) to practice her performance songs from The Little Mermaid play she is involved in at a summer theater program. She uses it all the time with the performance disc (like karaoke, music with no words) they gave her from the theater class. She loves it and it helps her improve her singing because she can hear her own voice so clearly. I would not recommend this if you are looking for a "party" machine to really belt out karaoke tunes at a loud, crowded party or venue. It's not for that at all. As a toy for family fun, kids playing, or maybe just a young musician wanting an inexpensive "monitor" of sorts to hear their voice while practicing acoustic guitar in the bedroom or whatever, this is pretty good for any of those purposes. PS - I got it on Amazon for under 30 bucks. I would never pay the 60 or 70 dollar list price I've seen around. But for the price I got it at, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
