Great price & great headphones
By Jonathan M on Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2014
So my wife took over my older Sony headphones and I was looking to upgrade to something with more bass. I was at a local store and they had Beats by Dre headphones from the cheapest to the most expensive which I think were the executive at $399.99. I couldn't imagine paying that much money for a pair of headsets when I was fine with the Sony's pair before. I found the Sony MDRV55 and read lots of reviews and broke it down to these and a set of Pioneers which were about $60-70 more. I decided the price was right for the Sony MDRV55 and I'm glad I did. They are actually very nice in person and look better. They are very flexible and fold similar to Beats headsets but sound better!! Just to see if I can push the sound and bass more I downloaded an app call Bass Booster on Android marketplace and WOW. It's hard to have it on and trying to listen with the volume 100% and the Bass Booster on with boosted volume and bass. I often wear it around my neck with the headphones facing out and listen to music that way. I don't want to become deaf! If you are thinking of buying Beats headphones give these a try.

This is quite annoying with how my desk is set up
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2015
I bought a pair of these headphones for work to replace a similar pair that i bought 10+ years earlier that broke. The old pair was discontinued by Sony and this supersedes the previous design. The old design had a spiral, telephone cord style cable that could stretch out to 12 ft. This design has a rigid cable that is less than 4 ft. This is quite annoying with how my desk is set up. The headphones are a little less comfortable to wear as the padding around the speakers is firmer than the old style. The sound quality of the speakers is equivalent, very good. There is one VERY annoying problem with these headphones (thus the low rating.) The part that connects the band to the speakers (the part that swivels) squeaks and causes a lot of noise. This noise can exceed the sound coming from the speakers. If you are sitting perfectly still, everything is fine, but if you turn your head or god forbid eat something with these on, you are at risk of causing hearing loss just from the squeaking coming from the swivel joints on both sides. The quality of these headphones is far inferior from the product they replaced from an ergonomic standpoint. The sound is equivalent.
