My hesitation was overcome.

Once you get this thing to the right height and the ladder free from any metal. It works great. More sensitive than my Xiegu VG4 for half the price. Made well. Good value.

My first HF antenna

So this is no easy deal. It works great when you get it up. It needs to be 35 feet in the air and free of any trees contacting the wire. It is 102 feet long, so you need something to hook it to to something solid and substantial. I climbed a cedar tree, cut limbs off and attached mounting. I also climbed red oak tree and trimmed limbs off also. I stretched the wire and the trees are only 95 feet apart. After discussing this with other ham's I decided to use a non conductive pulley and managed to get the wire another 6 feet free, but at about 70degree angle. Next the 450 ohm lead attached to the antenna is 32 feet long. From the radio perspective this is a great application, but this material is kind of brittle and you need to support it. It also attaches in the middle of the antenna wire where you have to get it to a radio. For me the place where the lead attached was close to the front of my house so I put up a piece of pvc electircal conduit , made some stand off's out of pvc pipe and while twisting the lead a to eliminate interference form metal along the rout got the lead to a place where I can then attach RG8X coax then to the radio. This antenna is radiant in several bands, but not all the way so you get the best use using an antenna tuner. This does not make the antenna better, but protects your radio from reflected power. I am new ham and I have learned a lot by doing this. It is not an easy slam bam setup. It does work and you can hear and communicate long distances. Just make sure you have space and a plan for where you will attach it. You can fudge a bit by either sloping, inverted V or drooping the ends. The closer to the instructions, You need to look for the instructions online, you install this the better it works. Nothing is perfect.
