One of these turns heads at the stop light!!

I bought this exact Hifonics HFX12D4 12" sub from an audio store here in Las Vegas. This guy has a little shop setup in a store called "Savers". He had all kinds of car stuff, such as subwoofers, amps, various gauges of wiring, etc. My wife and I were there about a month ago shopping for her first sub. We tested 4 different brands(Sony XPlod, Pioneer, Kenwood and a Kicker) all of which were 12" speakers. They all sounded great. I mean they sounded really good. Then one box design caught my eye, and the price was right so I told the guy to hook it up. It had this 12" Hifonics sub inside. He hooked it up and played a song and immediately I knew this sub was the one. The bass was so natural, I mean it hit the lows so perfectly. The deep bass notes breathed like a beast hot and heavy like some sort of mythical dragon. The punchy bass notes were always on time, CLEAN and CLEAR! It's hit every high-low bass note really well. I don't know why some other reviewers say that it hits those notes bad. Maybe it's a matter of musical taste which makes the sub perform differently. I listen to all sorts of music, even Japanese music and I hear all bass notes just fine. I sometimes have to reduce the bass on my head unit because it literally doesn't miss a note but back to the store...... It's like, the louder he turned it up, the better the speaker sounded, it was just sickeningly orgasmic so I bought it right then and there for $100(ported box included). She has it in her Ford Explorer and she likes listening to loud music of all genres and whenever she's pulling up in the driveway, you know it's her because the windows shake. SooooOOOOOo. I went back to this same place 2 weeks ago after blowing this cheap 400W old Pioneer sub(it was smoking and everything. I had to pull over because I thought something was on fire). It just so happened he got another Hifonics sub(HFX12D4), that was a 12" also. I bought that one for $100(ported box included). Now, my wife and I both have Ford Explorers, with Crunch 800W amps, and 4 Polk DB571 Door Speakers with Sony 660UP dash receivers so everything's pretty much identical in our vehicles. I recommend this stereo receiver as well because you can personally tune just about every setting(EQ, HPF,LPF,Subwoofer Level,ALO, DM+, Loudness, and a bunch of other sound options to get your music sounding just right). Our subwoofer box designs are a little different, both ported, but we still get a bunch of head turns when we're out driving. I was just out tonight cruising down The Strip with my radio turned up halfway(25); and people on both sides of the Strip stopped doing what they were doing turned towards the street to see where the music was coming from. I've had people at stop lights literally roll their windows up next to me because the music was so loud. I get at least one compliment a day from people watching me approach them as I'm driving down the street. Some people will waive their hands at me, some will start dancing along with the music, some will just stare. Now I'm not saying this is the best sub in the world; there could be better sounding ones out there but from my own personal experience with this sub, having just ONE, ONLY ONE in my car with the equipment that I have(which isn't even that powerful), this is probably better than anything you'll find out there, and for the price...man. Get these subs while you can! You will NOT be disappointed in the amount of power you can drive into these things and they'll still sound flawless. They're lightweight and hit harder than you'll ever know. Trunks will rattle, mirrors will vibrate, you will wonder why you haven't gotten one of these sooner. I am ordering another one as we speak. One is way more than I could ever have anticipated, way more than enough. I just want to see how two would sound.

No! It's not worth a try.

I guess you can't expect much for the price but it didn't even make a break in period. Was running a decent Focal amp at about 250/280 rms watts and the sub fried on a 20 min ride home in a sealed enclosure before I even really pushed it trying to break it in. The pictures make it look worth trying but when you pick it up it's so light I've had 6.5 component door speaker with heavier magnets.
