So far so good

I have to say, this router impresses me. The first thing I noticed was that after having it plugged in for several hours, it remained cool to the touch. I felt very little heat coming from the unit. The only issue I had was when I upgraded to the latest firmware. After I updated it, my Virgin Mobile MC760 would not connect to the internet. I contacted TP-Link tech support, who was very helpful. They sent me the older firmware version and it started working again. My 3g internet connection remains solid. I had it plugged in all day without any disconnects. I have another brand of 3g router that lags and is slow, but this TP-Link seemed to make my connection much faster and more reliable. I'm happy with this router. **UPDATE** After about a month of ownership, I am thrilled with this router. It just keeps working without failure. Surfing the net on my old 3G router was slow. All this time, I thought it was the 3G service, but instead it was the ROUTER! With this router, my speed increased noticeably. And what I like best is that I have had zero disconnects. Perfect!!! ***6 year update*** 11/8/19: Still going strong! No issues! Always reliable.

Remember Windows 95 and the "blue screen of death"?
By Used-to-was, but now retired on Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2013
Here in Thailand, land line/DSL service is difficult to come by (and in remote/rural areas, impossible). I use a 3G aircard for internet access and wanted to get my smart TV and wifi tablet on line. I took a gamble with the MR3220, in that I purchased the unit in the U.S., but use it in Asia. The unit does work and wifi signal strength is fair to good at all corners of my 1/2 acre compound. But there is a problem. The router must "recognize" the connected aircard and, if not recognized, the aircard's operating parameters must be manually programmed into the router. Well, my aircard isn't "supported" and after manually programming the router, it recognizes my aircard about 95% of the time and often disconnects it even after recognizing it. TP Link brags about their committment to adding more aircard support, but has not added the number one aircard in Thailand (or, even the number two device) in over two years. So, it works most of the time, but, I'm always wondering if it will connect or, if the connection will hold. So, 3 stars.
