This is our 2nd portable DVD player. I was hesitant to purchase one again after so many bad reviews of many different brands. I have delayed purchasing for about 6 months until I found this product. Our Kawasaki player stopped working well after 5 yrs of occasional use and little fingers touching the sensor many times. We use a portable DVD player for trips and sometimes at home. I'm very pleased with this product. The price is excellent for the quality and screen size. I specifically wanted one that had an AV output to easily hookup to a hotel TV (this is when the remote comes in very handy) and had a memory function. We recently enjoyed a favorite DVD hooked up to our hotel room TV. Includes: ~ AV cords and remote, although we add an AV extension for hotel TVs. ~ Car charger and car headrest holder. The elastic bottom part of the headrest holder somewhat covers the on/off button, eject button and stop start buttons though. But it's not too difficult to move. It's not a completely secure holder like the metal attachment kinds are, but it does the job pretty well. I added some masking tape around it to secure more for a long trip. If we used it continually I would opt for a better way to secure it or purchase a player that secured with metal brackets. ~It plays DVDs that I have created. Note: I specifically won't buy Sony even though it is a quality brand because Sony doesn't allow you to play DVD/CDs that you have created. ~It's a lightweight compared to our old one and has the battery integrated within it. I haven't used up the entire battery at one sitting yet. But we drove quite a few hours before we realized that the car charger hadn't been plugged in and it was still working well. Our old DVD player lasted a little over 2 hours, so we're glad to have this new one. ~It remembers where you left off - YES! Finally this function is available - nothing is more frustrating to a kid than when you pull the car in for gas and the player has to restart the video, because you turn off the car. ~Everything else as far as I can tell functions well. Headphones work well with it and the sound quality is pretty good as far as portable DVD players go. We hope it will last as many years as our old one. UPDATE: It's been a year & it's been working great - road trips, airlines. Yay!

A Good Portable DVD Player
By pfcpat2 on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2013
I had a Sony DVP-FX750 7-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black that lasted just less than two years. It was well taken care of and only dropped once. It was used a lot to play both DVD's and audio CD's during those two years. The picture on it was not all that great, although I used a cable most of the time to play DVD's on my TV, where the picture was OK. When I started having trouble with it stopping for no reason, I looked for an alternative. That's when I purchased the Philips PD9000/37 9-Inch LCD Portable DVD Player with 5 Hour Battery, White. The reviews pretty much rated both the Sony and the Philips equally. This time though, I thought I'd go with a 9 inch and one with a LCD screen. It cost about $20 to $30 more, but I think by and large it was worth it. Time will tell how sturdy this new player is. The first thing I noticed when I turned it on with a DVD in it, was the beautiful, clear picture on the 9 inch screen!! Much improved over the Sony I had owned! However, there were a few drawbacks. The first I noticed was that an audio/video jack was included, but NOT the cable to hook the player up to the TV! MY old Sony included a cable. The second thing I noticed was that the volume on the portable player only went up so high, not high enough to hear if you got up and even walked a few steps away! Plus you cannot raise or lower the volume via the remote! The old Sony had that feature which was very useful. The remote with the Sony was easy to use and not fragile. The Philips remote is much smaller and more confusing to use. The third thing I noticed was that the Sony buttons on the DVD player, were easy to use, quite similar to the remote. With the Philips, they were really more confusing and not similar to the remote. In spite of the drawbacks, I still like it. Whether played on it's own screen or on a TV screen, the picture is quite clear with good color. If I want the volume louder than on the player itself, all I do it hook it up to a TV. Gradually as I learn the new remote and the player buttons, I'm liking them more than I did at first. I think familiarity will help. The battery on the player indeed lasts the five hours of use that is advertised! I know because I timed my use of it! So far, I'm pretty happy with this new portable DVD player in spite of some of the drawbacks, so yes, I can definitely recommend it. I wrote the above review in February 2013. It is now January 18, 2015 and today the DVD player died. It just won't work. I never, ever, dropped it or jostled it. I tried other DVD's and CD's in it, but none would work. You be the judge as to whether I got my money's worth out of it or not. It seems for the price, it should have lasted more than two years! I am disappointed. I changed my rating from four stars to three because of the short life span of the product.
