Pretty much ideal for me

Headset works great. Sound quality both for me and folks on the other end is really good. I got a lot of complaints about noise etc. on my old headset, and compliments on this one. (That one was few years old, though, so figure anything new should be better than that... and this is!) Often better to talk on he bluetooth than right into the phone. I mostly use while driving, and my van is not quiet inside so consider it good in noisy environment. Important for me is a "quick connect" feature, which works great on this phone. My headset is stored on the dashboard turned off. When phone rings, I turn on the headset and stick it in my ear. It powers up and connects quickly enough to answer the call before it goes to voicemail. I have about 2 rings to turn it on for it to catch the call. The on/off switch is a little sliding thing, much like the one that broke on my old (different brand) headset, but solid so far. My ears have never fit headset buds well so it's no surprise fit is iffy for me. One of the many options that come with this unit does a pretty good job. The over-the-ear hook has a pivoting joint in it which I guess is to make it more variable for fit but only makes it more difficult to get on (especially in a hurry catching a call) and less useful since it doesn't hold tightly to the ear. I like the voice announcement when battery is getting low "you have approximately 15 minutes of talk time remaining". And the amount I use it the battery lasts a couple weeks. Was worried about the "automatic" volume control, but generally it's a good volume (WAY better than my old phone at top volume). And (at least on my phone, a Palm Centro) you can control the volume from the phone. Controlling it from the headset is a little clunky but I've done it once or twice as experiment and it works OK, but so easy to do from the phone which I keep right on the dashboard. Yeah, overall great headset. Wish it had some magic to fit better is my only real complaint. I recently saw Jabra has some after-market ear gels that may be better for me that I'll probably try soon, too.

Jawbone ICON: So-so
By Robert on Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2011
I bought two of these for stocking stuffers in December -- one for me and one for my wife. First off, I'll say that the sound quality and volume is fantastic. This is the first bluetooth headset I've had where I have to put the volume DOWN to about 3/4 volume -- even in a loud truck. The verbal battery meter is also incredibly useful, and the fact that it charges with a micro usb cable rather than a proprietary cable is great. The separate power on/off switch is also a nice touch. HOWEVER.. There are two major problems that it simply amazes me exist on a headset of this supposed caliber and price. First, the earbud / earpiece mount is absolutely horrendous. I have tried every one of the earbuds that come with this device (there are like 6) and it simply falls out of my ears. When I do get it to stay, I've had to jam it into my ear so hard that it starts to ache after a couple minutes. Even the attachable over-ear mount is useless -- it only serves to keep the device within reach (i.e. hanging from your ear) when the bud falls out, rather than rolling around on the car floor. It is so thin and flimsy that it has no ability to actually keep the device IN your ear. My previous headset was a Plantronics Explorer 330, which had a nice, meaty, left/right adjustable spring-loaded arm that kept the device comfortably and firmly in place, perfect for long road trips. After about 2 minutes you wouldn't even notice it was there. Unfortunately the sound quality was so bad I decided to replace it with the Jawbone. If I could somehow mix the audio guts from the Jawbone with the Plantronics case, I'd be very satisfied. The second (and nearly equally frustrating) problem is the placement of the multifunction button. It probably wouldn't be nearly as frustrating if the device actually stayed in place in your ear, but because you need to constantly adjust it and jam it further into your ear, you repeatedly graze the multifunction button with your finger and hang up on people. Also, when you press it to use the voice dialing, it is perfectly angled in such a way that putting pressure on the button also knocks the device loose from your ear. I thought at first that maybe I just have weird shaped ears, but after talking to my wife she admitted that she didn't want to say anything because it was a Christmas present, but she said nothing short of taping it to her head can keep it in place for more than 2 minutes. If they simply put a little less effort into the "styling" of the device and a little more into actually making it a bit more ergonomic, this would be a fantastic device. It loses 3 stars with me for those two problems which make this the most annoying headset I've ever owned.
