A great LP liner sleeve for yoru precious records
By John Palmer on Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2016
I bought these a year ago January via Amazon as part of a larger order of items as I needed some decent album liners to replace worn out paper ones that come with most LP's and knew they were of quality. What I like about them is simply the fact that there is rice paper in between sheets of the poly on the back side to provide support/structure to the sleeves so they can be inserted into the album covers much easier. They don't leave anything on the LP's nor do they produce static as I do not get any additional static or pops/clicks from using them on my LP's but then again, I don't live where it's excessively dry during the winter months so that helps. Overall they have been great in day to day use and will happily buy more when the time comes. Since I had originally purchased the original package in 2016, I find these still a pleasure to use and fit the LP inside their outer covers just fine. The one thing I'd change is rounding the corners, especially the bottom ones so they can insert into the jackets a bit easier. Otherwise, they bunch up in the corner but DO protect the LP's from swirl marks (or any additional ones if the LP is a used purchase and has some swirls already). Any new LP that comes in a paper sleeve also gets one of these to protect it as I play the album, taking it out of the jacket to play. LP's fit nicely inside and the rice paper insert does make the otherwise very flimsy poly inner sleeves easier to handle to insert/slide out the record and to insert into their outer jackets. So far they have held up well, not split or anything else and had finally used up the original pack a while ago and finally got around to buying another pack of these MOFI sleeves as I've purchased additional LP's and some older albums I've had for a good while are now in dire need of new inner sleeves so without hesitation, bought a fresh pack of these and they have arrived literally in 2 days from purchase. All in all, still recommend these if you desire to protect your LP's from daily use.

Nice and smooth, but... what's this very fine substance on them?
By JT on Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2012
These Mobile Fidelity sleeves work great - they smoothly accept the LP, and I haven't really had any trouble with fitting them inside the LP jackets. You just have to go slow. And there is no static when the LP goes in or out of the sleeve. They are sturdy, so I have no fear that the LP will poke out of the sides, like they tend to do with paper sleeves. However, I do have one curious issue with these sleeves. After I got about halfway through one package, I noticed my fingers felt kind of smooth. I took a closer look at one of the sleeves, and saw what looked like a very, very fine layer of dust covering the entire sleeve. It is definitely not regular household dust. "Dust" may not even be the best word for it. The substance on the sleeve was more like an extremely fine talcum powder. It's so fine in fact, that at first I thought it was just condensation from sweaty hands, but that was not it. I had a fresh second package, so I opened that up and saw the same fine substance. Next I went back to the LPs I had already placed in the sleeves. Sure enough, it looks like some of the substance has been transferred to the surface of some of the LPs. It must have got there by my simply handling the LP while it was sleeved, to take it in or out of a cardboard jacket. Does anybody have any idea what that substance might be? Perhaps I got a bad batch of sleeves that slipped through quality control. I've so far found no comments anywhere of anyone experiencing the same thing. I have yet to determine if the substance is harmful to the LP or affects the quality of play. Maybe I'm ignorant of the facts - is this substance part of what makes them anti-static? Or some other by-product of manufacture? I'd really like to know, and I would update my 3-star rating to a higher one, if I get a plausible answer. UPDATE: I've just compared a new bag from Amazon versus a bag from my local record store. I still found the same substance coating the sleeves from each package, from both sources. I'm going to continue using the ones I have though. So far, I don't think it has a noticeable effect on the LP or on playback. But it is still a little disconcerting.
