Quality mount -- not cheap but low-cost (by design). Like it.
By Young on Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2009
I was skeptical of this mount. Why should this be so cheap compared to other mounting kits? I ordered one (due to the price), and prepared to return it if I did not think the mount could handle the weight of the 52" LCD TV (Samsung). Once I got it, I understood the cost. Good low-cost design and built with solid heavy duty steel. - Two horizontal bars are load-bearing, and for proper VESA spacing, they have to be parallel and relative distance must be in the right tolerances. These are made of solid steel. - Two vertical bars (in the wall mount) are flimsey, and that's ok. it should be solid enough make a rectangle box w/ square angles. That's it. - Two vertical mounting (to the TV) brackets are of heavy duty metal. Making this in to two parts (not one), reduction of material, but also allows free horizontal adjustment on the TV mount. - By doing the above, the kit is small, uses less metal (and reduce shipping and material waste). Positives --------- 1. Good solid and heavy duty construction. 2. Good value (low-cost). Paid less than $ 25 including shipping. 3. Easy install. Took 15 min to figure out the instruction (which is not totally clear), and 10~15 min to install and ready to watch. 4. built-in level worked well during marking of mouting holes on the wall --I tested w/ my own, and was consistent. 5. Once the mounted on the wall, and bracket on TV, you could adjust horizontal TV placement on the mount, just by sliding few inches left or right, post install. I expect this to be safe and true if the wall mount is directly screwed into the wall studs. I do not expect dry-wall install without the use of the studs to handle such adjustment. 6. The brackets on TV could also be used to adjust vertical TV placement by a few inches up and down. But for this one, you'll need to lift TV off the bracket and adjust and pull back :-). 7. There is a reasonable space (I would say, just right) from the wall to the TV to get cables/connectors through WITHOUT using any expensive 90 degree connectors. Plenty of space between two horizontal bars to put extra power outlet and data HDMI cable outlet to hide all the cables. 8. This supports tilt up/down, and works well. Amazon product description does not make it clear. Negatives --------- 1. Just one. Clearer instruction so that I do not need to spend 15 min figuring things out. One could learn a lot form IKEA :-). 2. Packing/Packaging -- Not necessarily Cheetah Mount issue -- mine came w/o missing parts, although I noticed torn cardboard box edges and some parts COULD have been lost during shipping. Either double box, or have Cheetah use heavier box stock. Helpful Hints & Comments ------------------------- 1. DO NOT forget to tighten the screws (2) on the bottom horizontal bars AFTER TV is placed on the wall mount -- especially if you are in CA w/ quake. This is what prevents TV falling off the mount accidentally. But do not over-tighten (you are NOT securing from left-to-right movement). 2. Very happy w/ my purchase. Will get one more for my other TV.

Tilt didn't work properly but Cheetah is great
By Dart on Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2017
UPDATE: Cheetah reached out to me via email and wanted to resolve my issues from 3 months ago based on my original review. I’m impressed with how strongly they feel about making sure I’m happy with their products and they are going out of their way to get my business in the future. I won’t go into details about the resolution but I will say it was above and beyond most customer service. I would definitely recommend the Cheetah brand because they do stand behind their products and do have customer service that cares about resolving issues. The prices are great. As for the product I dealt with, I stand behind my main issue with not being able to tilt the frame correctly without the latch mechanism digging into the wall which can actually be seen in their own side-view photos of the product. The way this tilts just doesn’t make any sense to me, and keep in mind, I’m not even talking about a TV getting in the way. With no TV even mounted yet, this would still be an issue, so I just want to be clear that this has nothing to do with the size of the TV. I’ll give the product a 3 star rating with all things considered. The Cheetah company has earned a 5 star rating, and I would be willing to try more of the products in the future. Original Review: Just called their 866 number listed on their website and got a busy tone. This mount has some high potential for bang for buck, but there is a serious design flaw that I don’t understand how this could pass any form of basic testing. I just got done mounting a light 25lb 49” TV with 400mm x 400mm VESA. The flaw involves not being able to tilt any TV properly (at least with the model I received). I wanted a lot of tilt so before I put anything together, I laid all the parts on the back of the TV and used a straight edge to mimic the wall in order to determine how to maximize the tilt without the bottom of the TV hitting it. I immediately noticed a couple weird things. If you tilt the hooks BEFORE hanging the TV, the bottom latches do not have any clearance to latch. This means your TV can only be hung and taken down by first going back to near zero tilt. But the serious design flaw I am referring to is far worse. As I laid my straight edge across the back of the mount to mimic the wall, I noticed the metal housing of the bottom latches dig into my straight edge as I tilt the mount. I thought, maybe my tests are bogus, and I just need to pick some holes for the screws and be done with it. So I proceeded to screw everything together, and put the mount on the wall. (This is the 7th TV I’ve mounted, but never this model) To my disappointment, my fears were true. This mount is flawed to the point of complete failure with tilting. I hung the TV, and heard the 2 latches click into place and then looked closely at the mount as I tried to tilt it. The TV was nowhere near hitting the wall, but the vertical bracket latch mechanism hit the wall with just a few degrees of tilt. I could actually see the metal digging into my drywall as I tried to further tilt it. I’m estimating this take place at around 5 degrees of tilt. And this would happen even if a TV wasn’t even attached! The mount is getting in its own way. In fact, you can see this for yourself if you look closely at the 3rd photo in the Amazon listing which is a side view of the full tilt. Look at that bottom corner, next to the spring. It would be digging into the wall if you can imagine a straight line down from the wall mount. I thought of an idea that I really didn’t want to do, but I don’t have a choice unless I want to go through the arduous hassle that could last weeks. I used spacers touching the TV only on the top of the vertical brackets and none on the bottom. This makes the TV tilted away from the brackets themselves. (Not ideal since it puts a strain on the screws from being slight angled). If this mount could actually tilt properly without the latches getting in the way, then this would be a fantastic product relative to the low cost. I trust all the parts for light TVs, under 40 lbs. Anything heavier, I would go more heavy duty for sure. Another issue I had was poor screw and washer selection. With my light TV, I had to use some of the smaller sized screws to attach the brackets. The screw heads are so small, they barely catch the slots on the bracket. They need washers. The little lock washers they come with are not structural, and do not do a good job holding everything together. Lock washers are simply to stop the screws from unscrewing on their own. Luckily, I have some washers of my own that worked. So after all that ranting about cons, I will reiterate some good value here. IF you are not tilting past 5 degrees, and IF you have a nice collection of washers at home, and IF your TV is under 40lbs then you will be very happy with this product. Under those conditions, I would recommend this.
