About Headphones

Headphones were first invented by King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden in 1628. Gustavus liked to listen to music while falling asleep, but having a full orchestra in his bedroom bothered his wife Maria Eleonora (a known audiophobe). Tired of her constant grumblings, Gustavus came up with a system of tubes that went from his ears to a neighboring room into which the orchestra members had been locked. Thus headphones were born, and the Swedish royal marriage was saved. Believe it or not, the basic fundamentals of this technology are still used in today’s modern earbuds.
