Rock On

Just because I wear an excessive amount of eyeliner and bite the heads off of small flying rodents in my spare time, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate an expertly landscaped yard. What can I say? I don't want a traditional speaker sticking out like a sore thumb and throwing off my Feng Shui.

Now you can have Soundgarden in your garden, in theory. What sonic joy would you blast the neighborhood with?

I'm just hanging out, really.

The TIC GS500 is cool because you can be listening to the TV or audio then pick it up by its convenient lid handle, step outside and continue listening. "Don't miss a beat!"

Expand your music room indoors & outdoors!
You can get the base set (wrs010) wireless rock speakers; transmitter & remote then add as many extension speakers (wrs011) as you want. They all work off the same, single transmitter frequency.

Any idea how these sound? Do they have blue-tooth capability?

Can they be left outside uncovered on a deck? thanks in advance.

These speakers offer full range sound, including more low frequency noise than most wireless speakers we’ve tested.

Yes, these speakers are designed and proven for outside use often left on patios, decks and landscaping. Indoors or outdoors no problem. They are not water proof however, so must not be submerged.

These speakers, like most wireless, have their own unique FCC approved wireless frequency, not Bluetooth.

What happens to these speakers if the sprinklers get them wet? Also, are the set of two speakers identical to the single speaker, with just a reduction in price to induce you to buy the pair?

These wireless speakers are weatherproof, in that they are capable of withstanding most outdoor weather conditions. They are often left outside in general use. Sprinklers often get them wet which is no problem although care should be taken to avoid the sprinklers spraying directly into the speaker grill as a precaution like with any outdoor speakers.

Yes, there is the single wireless speaker system (wrs005), the wireless speaker pair system (wrs101) and an extension single speaker (wrs011), add as many as you want to the system. All available in Canyon or Slate finishes and ALL operate off the same wireless frequency so can be used together.

If all the speakers operate "off the same wireless frequency" is there actual stereo separation or are you just getting the same sound from each speaker?

Each speaker produces “Full range sound.” This is practical for wireless speakers where “stereo” for most speakers is merely two channel separations. So yes, under the classic description (below) where you are surrounded by sound from more than one speaker, you have stereo. The most common usages for wireless speakers also demand it.

Quote ster•e•o /ˈsterē-ō/ Noun
1. Sound that is directed through two or more speakers so that it seems to surround the listener and to come from more than one source;...
2. A sound system, typically including a CD, tape, or record player, that has two or more speakers and produces stereo sound.

Hope this helps.

I really, really want to want these, but damn do they get hammered over at Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/TIC-CORPORATION-WRS010-SL-Wireless-Speakers/dp/B00179B606

and

http://www.amazon.com/TIC-CORPORATION-WRS010-CN-Wireless-Speakers/dp/B001799F68/ref=pd_cp_e_3

Looks like the wireless is just terrible. For what it's worth it looks like TIC itself is good for the backyard, just not the wireless stuff.

These things are crap... I bought a pair the last time they were on woot. One of them has a bad buzz. The 1/8 stereo cable that came with them was bad out of the box. The worst part is they interfere with 802.11g. If I have the receiver plugged in, my laptop that I use to stream pandora looses connection... So much for listening to streaming audio outside.

I cannot comment upon those “comments” left on Amazon.com. Within the trades, Amazon.com comments are famous for; anyone can leave a comment, whether they own the product or not and many have fun doing so, even your competitors…

Wireless interference? Wireless and wireless frequency and transmission standards have come a long way since the days of switching them on and seeing every garage door in the neighborhood open. TIC wireless has FCC licensing, meaning they have their own private frequency and do not interfere with other wireless frequencies or broadcasts as tested by the US FCC.. Out of the thousands we have in the field we have received a handful of complaints about interference with a wireless network, always a computer wireless network. By our testing this has always been because the two wireless transmitters or broadcast units are plugged into the same house electric ring main. This causes feedback down the electrical main circuits and cross interference. The simple solution has been to use a different ring plug.

The American FCC officially warns of this;
Federal Communications Commission Part 15 Class B. RSZ06060204.
Note: If interference with another device is experienced please connect this equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from the device that is experiencing interference and/ or move this unit’s transmitter well away from the device suffering interference.
This is common for all wireless products.

Hope this information helps.

They look so much like IEDs they could trigger PTSD.

I bought a set of these and I also bought a set of Acoustic Research AW825m 900MHz Wireless Outdoor Speaker and I'm wondering if I'll be able to use them all at the same time, playing the same music or is that just me dreaming?

The TIC wireless speakers are the “state of the art” 2.4gHz in operation while the others you mention are the older 900mHz so they would not work together. They also, due to FCC non-interference protocols, no doubt operate on different frequencies.

What is your return policy? In case I don't like, but I doubt I won't like them, just want to know if I'm stuck.

Sorry for the late reply.
Per the Woot FAQ:

Will I receive customer support like I'm used to?

Not quite. If you buy something you don't end up liking or you have what marketing people call "buyer's remorse," sell it on Craigslist or at a garage sale. It's likely you'll make money doing this and save everyone a hassle. If the item doesn't work, first, find out what you're doing wrong. Yes, we know you think the item is bad, but it's probably your fault. Google your problem, or come back to that product discussion in our community and ask other people if they know. Try to call the manufacturer and ask if they know. If you give up and must return it to us, then follow on to the next FAQ entry.

How do I return a defective product?

Unless we specifically tell you not to, call the manufacturer of the product you bought. You will likely get a replacement of a new model or better item from them. If we still haven't dissuaded you, email rma@woot.com with your woot order number, the name of the product you are returning, and the detailed problem with the item. We will respond with return authorization by the next business day. Because we aren't likely to have a replacement in stock, you should be prepared for a refund-only option if that's all we can do. Know that return freight will be at your expense. Again, you will probably get a better deal from the manufacturer, or whoever else handling member service for that product.

Sincerely,
Woot Staff

This guy was fast asleep, 3am in the morning when he hears a knock on the door, won’t stop… so he gets up goes downstairs and opens the front door. Before him, he sees a snail with a clipboard.
The snail says, “Good evening sir, would you be interested in a subscription to… “ The man is so annoyed he hauls off and kicks the snail so hard, all the way back to the street.

Two years later, about midnight the guy hears a knock on the door. He answers it and sees the same snail, looking a little disheveled. He looks at the snail; the snail looks at him and says, “what the #$^* was that all about?”
