Oh look! It's another TV! I haven't seen one for awhile. I thought maybe Woot was running out.

Did CuzzinMerl just out himself as a multi troll? I thought that only happened in Fark politics threads.

/And I have nothing useful to say about this TV

Am I the only one that noticed the obvious?

ClearFrame™ increases the frame rate of standard LCD TV, 1080p Full HD LCD images are now crisp and clear regardless of image motion

You might want to change that to LED.

4 Stars on Amazon ($1,299):

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004MF7ATS/

Here's a CNET review:

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/toshiba-46sl417u/4505-6482_7-34504642.html

PC Mag:

Seems like mediocre-to-good reviews, but they're reviewing it at the $1,300 price point, so it probably goes up a star at this price.

So is this a good deal refurbished? I've looked over a lot of Black Friday ads and there are some comparable TVs you could buy new for maybe $100 more.

This might not be a LED TV but a LCD with an LED backlight. They sometimes lable them LED even though the display is actually LCD.

All LED TVs are LCD...it's just the backlighting that they are referring to.

Yep. The ones simply marked LCD are using Fluorescent backlighting.

You're living a lie, people.

As for the specs, it was right the first time. There is no "LED image."

Am I the only one that grits my teeth whenever I buy anything made by Toshiba? I remember how Toshiba sold advanced milling equipment they bought from us (and agreed not to resell/transfer) to the USSR that made their submarines and ships harder for us to track by an order of magnitude...cost the US taxpayers billions to upgrade our technology.

Yes, it was nearly 40 years ago. Yes, I still remember it. Yes, it still affects my buying decisions.

Yes, it still ticks me off. I want some Toshiba executive's head on a platter and a few billion back from them.

I too remember Toshiba's treachery. The Russian subs were able to have the same silence as American subs of the time. All for money and it cost us a lot in money and time to recover.

I just got into the market for a new TV. My old 46" Rear-projection LCD TV died and my wife won $500 on slots at the Horseshoe casino...so I'm really considering this one. :-) I'm glad Woot has a ton of TVs, I've been counting on that for my shopping!

Yeah well don't forget to wait Thursday night in line at the door to have a decent shot at grabbing one of the 2 units they have at that price.

Reasonably speaking, you would have to spend no less than 8 hours in line in the cold to MAYBE get a shot at one.
Is it worth it? Just save your $100 and get this one.

Don't blame Toshiba. Blame the gourd who sold them the technology.
I love Toshiba electronics. I guess the CCCP did too.

So... other than avoiding Black Friday chaos, does anyone have actual (technical) reasons for why this is a good deal?
